What is a Richie Brace?
The Richie Brace® is a specialist custom-made ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) designed to provide enhanced support and stability for patients with complex foot and ankle conditions. It combines a custom functional foot orthotic with lightweight, semi-rigid uprights that extend above the ankle. These uprights are connected by precision ankle joint hinges, allowing natural forward ankle movement while providing excellent control of abnormal foot and ankle mechanics. This innovative design helps reduce strain on injured tissues, improve stability, and enhance walking efficiency while maintaining comfort and function. The Richie Brace® is widely recognised as a leading podiatric ankle-foot orthosis and has been successfully prescribed for thousands of patients worldwide.

Hypermobility and Connective Tissue Disorders
Benefits of Richie Brace
For patients with joint hypermobility and connective tissue disorders, the Richie Brace® can be particularly beneficial in providing additional stability and support to joints that may be prone to excessive movement, fatigue, and recurrent injury. By helping to control abnormal foot and ankle motion while maintaining functional movement, the brace can reduce pain, reduce fatigue, improve confidence during walking, and enhance overall mobility.
We are experts
We have extensive experience in assessing and managing patients with hypermobility-related conditions and are skilled in determining when a Richie Brace® may be an appropriate part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

Reviews
Oh my goodness, these braces are fantastic and life changing! They took a bit of getting used to, my leg muscles complained a bit the first few days, and my right ankle bone seems to have pressure on it a bit, but they are great. I feel as if I am being held up from below by two giant hands.

To say that I am happy with the Richie Brace is an understatement, it has given me strength again and the pain level has reduced by at least 70%, so thank you again for introducing me to it.
