Cycling Analyis

The Gait Lab are able to offer Cycling Analysis where dynamic movement of the foot can be analysed in the cycling shoe during cycling. Video pictures are also taken to look at alignment and movement patterns on the bike. Force sensors are placed in the cycling shoes which is linked to a computer pack which the cyclist wears around his/her waist. Dynamic pressure data readings are taken from inside the cycling shoe at 50 Hz and the data is downloaded onto a PC and analysed. The data can show where the foot is loading during the down stroke and can show whether there is good symmetry and power being produced. Optimum cleat position can be determined as well as whether Footbed/Orthotics are either required or can be tested to see if they are enhancing or hindering foot function.

Cycling with orthotics
Left foot loading shows adequate 1st MTP joint function and hallux loading with reduced lateral loading. Overall good foot function and efficiency of power transfer
